I have a couple of boxes of old photos that I've collected over the years and a number of digital photos on my hard drive. I've started to scan in certain "collections" and will share some of my favorites here. They're sorted in chronological order. I'll add more in time--there's so many things I'm working on for the site that it might take a while. For now, I've decided to link the individual galleries to accounts at Flickr and Picasa. I'm working on an article comparing the two web photo sharing services and they have more features than I can add (at least for now ;) Some of the galleries are not complete at the moment but will be ready in a day or two. If you would like to buy a print, I'll be happy to sell you one. I'm also available for any photo work.
Snowy Tracks
I used to live in the Waterford Place apartment complex in Athens, Ga. The building was across the street from the old church R.E.M played their first show at. Behind us was the Oconee River and on the other side of the river was a city park. An unused train track was next to our apartment and a trestle crossed the river. Many a fun time walking over and hanging out on bridge! This is the same train track featured on the cover of the R.E.M album Murmur. A few years ago, they tore down the bridge, probably due to concern over no-good college students running around at all hours of the night. It's sad that it's gone. Here are a few photos from a rare snowy day.
Cumberland Island
For those who don't know, Cumberland Island is the largest barrier island in Georgia. Access to the island is limited and the island is largely natural. There are wild horses, sea turtles lay there eggs on the beach. In short, it is a little piece of paradise on Earth. A few years ago a few of us decided to go camping. We had to book a spot in advance, due to the daily limit on visitors. The crew: my roomates Tom and Jared, upstairs neighbor and all-around good guy Steve, Jared's brother Dean, my brother Chris and myself.
We hiked up island so we could avoid the campsites near the ferry landing. It was awesome. No one but us. And some horses on the beach. And Jimi Hindrix wailing on the guitar as the sea and sky and land melted together (Steve's decision to carry a boombox for seven miles was surprisingly wise!) Sure there were bitey bugs, but I think we all agree that our little piece of the island was a beautiful adventure to a time before people screwed things up. Of course, the Park Service is considering running SUVs up the beach now. Go figure.
Texas
Last January I went on a road trip with my roommate Ben to visit his family in Texas. Here are a few pictures from that trip. It was a good time.
Botanical Garden
These are from a visit to the Atlanta Botanical Garden when the Chiluhy exhibit was featured there.
Music
I have photographed a number of bands. Haven't taken any concert pics in a while so I'd like to do some more real soon.
Potpourri
Here's a few pictures that didn't really fit in anywhere. Some of them I took and developed when I had a photography class at GSU. Fun times. It's only been three years, but this is Atlanta, so many these scenes don't exist anymore. If you've always wanted to buy some art but thought you couldn't afford to, you're in luck. Normally, I would sell prints for regular bohemian art student prices. If you sign up for a subscription, however, I will give you an unframed print of your choice. On the other hand, if you are a fabulously wealthy collector and feel like you haven't done enough benefactin' lately, I think I would be a worthy subject of your patronage.
